The Estate
Nestled on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, just a little higher than the hill on which the villa of Pliny the Younger was located, the La Palerna winery covers 80 hectares, 8 of which are vineyards whose grape varieties are mainly Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet and Sauvignon. The vineyards are at an altitude ranging from 550 to 600 meters, with a south-west exposure. The area is high and cool, with plenty of sun and, thanks to the differences in temperature, it produces very aromatic grapes and an excellent production of Pinot Noir, full of its characteristic flavours. Exacting viticultural practices include low yield and harvesting by hand in cases with a sorting table. In the modern eco sustainable winery, which is situated in the heart of the vineyards and makes use of renewable energy sources, the fermentation occurs spontaneously and vinification is very precise to allow the selective extraction of polyphenols.
